Join us during the busy Holiday Season!  This is a temporary contract estimated to go from November to Christmas (can be extended, dependent on business needs). Purdys is most famous for our chocolate shops - in addition to that, we are proud to have our other “non traditional” sales channels. This department runs much like a traditional Purdys shop; however, they are located at our Head Office/Warehouse and all of their customers are shopping via the telephone or online.  These customers can be shopping from Canada, the US, or even Internationally. The Web Sales team handles everything from providing the customer service, packing the product, and shipping the package out directly.This is a great opportunity for you to see behind the scenes at Purdys. Working Monday to Friday (6-8 hrs/day) from now to December, you will be involved in all of the online “Purdys.com” business.In the Web Sales  Warehouse, duties include but are not limited to:

• Assisting with shipping online orders/gift baskets directly to customers
• Inputting shipment information into database efficiently with accuracy and speed
• Labelling and preparing packages for shipment (including Gift Baskets)
• Ensuring that all packages are sent out to the correct mailing addresses
• Verifying accuracy of pick tickets against customer purchase order• Sorting and packaging of the final products in accordance to the quality and productivity standards
• Consistently meeting daily shipping targets

In this important seasonal role, you work closely and cooperatively with all staff, all throughout the Lower Mainland, to ensure product levels are maintained at our shops.  Hourly pay is $14/hour.

As the Shuttle Driver you:

• Successfully complete deliveries from Shop to Shop as required

• Accurately follow the delivery schedule as set by the Coordinator

• Ensure that the company cell phone is on and in working order while on shift (hands-free headsets)

• Protects inventory by sharing any suspected policy violations with the Shop Manager or District Manager.

Our Production Factory on Kingsway in Vancouver, BC is looking for an Industrial Electrician to join our Maintenance team! This position applies electrical knowledge to install, test, repair and modify electrical machinery and electrical control equipment. This role will support all production and plant equipment in the facility.

Please note: The successful candidate MUST have experience working as an industrial electrician in a manufacturing plant.

Job Duties and Responsibilities Include (but are not limited to):

• Perform work requiring a thorough knowledge of electrical theory and principles, statutory codes, properties of materials and principles of operation of electrical equipment
• Diagnose and repair or replace faulty mechanical and/or electrical/electronic components of machinery
• Test newly installed machines and equipment to ensure fulfillment of contract specifications
• Troubleshoot instruments; both electrical and mechanical ensuring applicable repair is performed for fixing
• Confer with the controls designers to determine operational problems and efficiency of automatic control systems
• Determine methods, procedures, and conditions for testing equipment, and follow accordingly
• Analyze operational problems and assist in the development, modifications and design to improve efficiency
• Confer with manufacturers' representatives and submit proposed design modification to improve efficiency of controls and instrumentation
• Plan, direct, and record periodic electrical testing, and recommend or initiate modification or replacement of equipment which fails to meet acceptable operating standards
• Help ensure compliance with the production schedule
• Establish standards and policies for maintenance of equipment
• Perform other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

• Red Seal Provincial electrical certification (Red Seal Industrial Electrician) or Interprovincial certification
• PLC and Control System experience
• 5+ years' experience in a manufacturing setting with 480V and 600V motors 
• Ability to troubleshoot mechanical equipment, hydraulic equipment, control circuits, motors, motor control circuits, and other electrical and electronic systems and equipment
• Ability to install and maintain mechanical equipment, hydraulic equipment, electrical systems and controls
• Knowledge and experience with the installation, programming, troubleshooting, and repair of logic control systems, Programmable Logic Controllers, and adjustable frequency AC drives
• Ability to read electrical blueprints and schematics and apply NEC requirements
• Ability to draw electrical blue prints and electrical schematics using Auto Cad
• Ability to use appropriate hand, power and specialty tools and diagnostic equipment to complete job tasks
• Ability to program PLCs

Duties

• Gathering information from clients and other stakeholders, conducting research, and documenting business needs and requirements

• Identifying options for potential solutions, evaluating the technical and business suitability of each option, and participating in assessing the priority, feasibility and impact of undertaking the project.

• Developing business cases for modifications or enhancements, summarizing and costs / benefits, and identifying measurable success criteria

• Preparing detailed specifications, use cases, workflows, and other supporting documentation for the development of modifications and enhancements.

• Participating in preparation of RFI and RFP documents and evaluation of vendor responses for new systems.

Knowledge & Skills

• Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing with Business Users, Technical Teams, and Management.

The Manager on the Bench is set up to become the next Shop Manager through Purdys’ Succession Planning.  While utilizing existing management experience and knowledge, this individual is partnered with other Managers in retail. 

This individual undergoes an “On the Job” training period, with the goal of further developing their experience along with our high standard of proficiency as Shop Manager.  Reporting to the District Manager and with assistance from other members of the Retail Team, the Manager on the Bench is further trained in specific skills and competencies to enable him/her to develop into a top Shop Manager.

In this role, duties include but are not limited to:

• Using Sales drive to achieve profit goals

• Providing Customer Obsessed Service and Sales through leadership by example, training, coaching, managing and scheduling others

• Selecting quality Associates by effectively recruiting, interviewing and hiring

• Training and developing Associates to become productive and promotable internal candidates by:

o Orientating, training, coaching, motivating, counseling, disciplining, and providing written performance reviews

o Participating and assisting in leading meetings

o Providing and participating in opportunities for self development.

• Controlling inventory levels of product and supplies to meet daily requirements

• Promoting Purdys’ Special Service options
