Reviewing your Application and Prescreening
Once you submit your information, it is reviewed within two weeks. Due to the substantial amount of applications we receive, we are unable to respond to everyone personally. If you are a shortlisted candidate, you will receive a phone call for a Telephone Prescreen Interview. At the end of the call, you will be given a timeline in which you will receive an update.

Interviewing
If you’re chosen as one of the best qualified candidates after the Telephone Prescreen Interview, we will contact you again in order to schedule further interviews.

Job Offer
Upon completion of the interviewing process and if you are chosen for the role, specifics such as starting salary will be discussed in further detail. From there an offer will be made and if accepted, a job offer letter will be sent to you.

Do you have a passion for working hands on with factory equipment? If so, Purdy's might be looking just for someone like you. Our Production Factory on Kingsway in Vancouver, BC is looking for a Maintenance Tradesperson - Millwright!

The Maintenance Tradesperson is responsible for maintaining the equipment in the plant. He/she performs preventative maintenance tasks as assigned and does the work requested on work orders. Maintenance personnel also work on productivity, quality, and safety projects as they are identified and prioritized.


Job Duties and Responsibilities Include (but are not limited to):

• Carries out responsibilities identified in the Purdy's Quality Management System including required documentation
• Complies with all company’s GMP's
• Maintains, repairs, rebuilds or installs any production or other equipment and fixtures within the boundary of the individual's certification using appropriate hand tools, shop tools or equipment
• Carries out any required preventative maintenance tasks and completes required documentation
• Organizes and maintains spare parts inventories under the direction of the supervisor
• Completes work orders documenting time spent and parts used according to established procedures
• Complies with all safety policy, accident prevention and compliance programs; reviews work areas for potential issues that could result in losses and reports injuries and hazards
• Maintains area to a satisfactory level of cleanliness and sanitation
• Maintains accuracy and integrity of computerized maintenance programs
• Performs other duties as assigned


Minimum Qualifications:

• Ability to communicate effectively in spoken and written English
• Trade Certification – Red Seal Millwright (Certificate must be provided during interview process)
• Can create neat accurate and legible reports
• Ability to enter data into the computer/WIMS System

This is a great opportunity for seasonal full time work for an estimated 4-6 month contract.  Full, open availability for all types of shifts (day/afternoon/evening) is mandatory.

As a General Helper, duties include but are not limited to:
• Coating and garnishing of cream centres, caramels, and other products
• Sorting and packaging of the final products in proper boxes in accordance to the quality and productivity standards
• Consistently meeting daily production targets
• Keeping cleanliness of equipments, machines and work stations
• Examining products and recording results for quality control
• Maintaining a “team-centered” atmosphere

The Kitchen Assistant takes care of all the groundwork necessary in order to enable the Candy Maker to devote their time and efforts in the cooking and production of candy. He/she is responsible for supporting the Candy Maker in changeovers, start ups, shut downs, and trouble shooting of all associated equipment and maintaining sufficient on hand quantities of materials in the work area.

This is a temporary (approx. 6 months) full time position and flexibility for any type of shift (day, afternoon, and graveyard) is a mandatory for this job.

Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Maintain stock on all raw materials (responsible for daily stock levels)
• Gather and prepare ingredients, set up tables and pickup finished product
• Produce centers according to the recipes and mix products in mixers
• Assist the Candy Maker with cutting products
• Grind oranges and cherries
• Perform equipment start up and shut down procedures and complete appropriate checklist documentation for various pieces of equipment

This position applies electrical knowledge to install, test, repair and modify electrical machinery and electrical control equipment. This role will support all production and plant equipment in the facility.

Please note: The successful candidate MUST have experience working as an industrial electrician in a manufacturing plant.

Job Duties and Responsibilities Include (but are not limited to):

• Perform work requiring a thorough knowledge of electrical theory and principles, statutory codes, properties of materials and principles of operation of electrical equipment
• Diagnose and repair or replace faulty mechanical and/or electrical/electronic components of machinery
• Test newly installed machines and equipment to ensure fulfillment of contract specifications
• Troubleshoot instruments; both electrical and mechanical ensuring applicable repair is performed for fixing
• Confer with the controls designers to determine operational problems and efficiency of automatic control systems

• 5+ years' experience in a manufacturing setting with 480V and 600V motors 
• Ability to troubleshoot mechanical equipment, hydraulic equipment, control circuits, motors, motor control circuits, and other electrical and electronic systems and equipment
• Ability to install and maintain mechanical equipment, hydraulic equipment, electrical systems and controls
• Knowledge and experience with the installation, programming, troubleshooting, and repair of logic control systems, Programmable Logic Controllers, and adjustable frequency AC drives
