What's “Mylk” Chocolate?

Mylk Chocolate is our plant-based version of dairy-based chocolate—without the dairy! The "mylk" comes from rice! No, we don't “milk” rice. The “mylk” in our Mylk Chocolate is made with rice powder. The result is creamy, smooth and very, very delicious chocolate.

Most dark chocolate is inherently plant-based. Superior quality dark chocolate only has a handful of ingredients: cocoa (usually listed as unsweetened chocolate and cocoa butter), sugar, lecithin, and sometimes vanilla. Learn more in our Purdys plant-based Chocolate Guide.

While our plant-based chocolates aren't made with dairy ingredients and are crafted with our plant-based-only equipment and within plant-based-only areas of our Factory Kitchen, it is not considered dairy-free as they are made in a shared facility that handles milk ingredients.

Our white chocolates are made with dairy ingredients and therefore aren't plant-based.

Normally, caramel is made with dairy ingredients. Our plant-based caramel replaces the dairy with plant-based ingredients that are then slowly cooked to perfection with sugar. This results in a chewy, buttery caramel that’s a delight to bite into and savour. Our process includes cooking our plant-based caramel recipe in a big kettle until we get the perfect golden colour, chewy texture and amazing taste.

No. While our dark chocolate does not contain any dairy ingredients, it is made with equipment and within areas of our Factory Kitchen where it may come in contact with dairy ingredients. Our plant-based chocolates are made with plant-based ingredients, with our plant-based-only equipment and within our plant-based-only areas of our Factory.
